I am thinking to go for psychology. I am in my late 30s. Will it be a good idea to study psychology? I like to open my own private practice. I am not sure which college/university should I go into as I will not be taking student loans. I live in Pennsylvania. I be willing to move in Maryland, New Jersey. I like to study psychology because I like to help people and like to see everyone happy. In the past I have taken Introduction in psychology and got A for the class. I was planning to study 2 years in psychology in Delaware county community college and then transfer to undergrad school. If someone can guide me the best psychology school or guide me how to succeed to open your own private school.
D1’s route was a BA in psychology, then an MA in social work, then 2000 hours of supervised clinical work, making her able to open her own practice (after she passes the qualifying exam), though she reports that’s unusual, so (relatively) young at 32. I think the undergrad school doesn’t matter as long as you do well enough to be admitted to a master’s program (which one also shouldn’t matter, but in the state where you want to practice might be an advantage). It sounds like you have six years of schooling ahead of you, then perhaps two years to accumulate the 2000 hours. Daunting?
Do you have recommendations on a cheapest college/university? As I am planning to pay the tuition in cash. Should I start my jobs in psychology field from now on?
