psychology research

I am a psychology major and trying to decide if I should start some psychology research in the fall. Would med schools still look favorably on psychology research even though it is not bio research, or should I not waste my time with it? If I do decide to do this, how long should I research for? At my school, you apply as a research assistant for a semester. Does this mean if I start now I should continue until I graduate? or is a year or so enough? Thanks for any input.

Most definitely. Psychology is extremely related to medicine. Being a research assistant, while better than no research, isn’t the absolute most beneficial position, but it’s where you have to start. If it’s something you want to do, and want to invest time and energy into it, then go right ahead. It takes time and perseverance to get fully engaged in research, but once you do, it can be very rewarding.
