Psychology Schools

What are some good Psychology Programs in the US?

Psych is such a popular major that it will be a great department at many many many schools. in undergrad, its general psych, which is impossible to rank. however, when you get to the graduate level, you can start picking the 'good' schools based on the subfield you go into.

Thank you.

What are some recommendations for prerequiset courses in High School?

I am a junior and facinated about this topic, and I go to a Health Magnet.

math and science!

ok. any specialty classes?

any anatomy and communications classes I'm sure won't hurt...if you can take them in HS. Psychology is so broad, it's hard to know how to prepare for it...it's pretty much about as broad as you can get within a major.

My school has 4 or 5 different psychology tracks(emphases), and that's just undergrad.

I'm minoring in it, with a major in Accounting. It fascinates me as well, but it's so broad I couldn't find it in my logic to major in it, because I don't want to have to put in another 7 years of schooling before I could claim a decent salary.

if you don't mind me asking, which school are you going to?

I go to Westminster College (Utah).

i was an undergrad psych major, got my masters in psych, and applying for my phd in psych so i think i can help you with this.
you dont really need any pre-reqs in high school, but if you wanted to get a head start, any bio class would do, as well as a generic psych class. you can also take a look at a list of the classes offered in the psych departments of any schools and read about what they consist of, just to get an idea.

huskem, how long is your PhD going to take you? I think I read somewhere, it might have been embark.com, that a PhD in psychology takes between 5 and 7 years after undergrad. Ok, it is on embark:

yup 5-7 years is pretty standard. im hoping to do mine in 4 because i already have a mastesr

geez, you might as well be a brain surgeon, the schooling is about the same length and you study the same organ in the body!
