Psychology vs Sociology

which course is more interesting? and which course requires the least amt of writing?
i heard sociology requires alot of writing....

Do you mean the major as a whole or particular courses? I’ve only taken lower division psychology and there is no writing whatsoever. Friends in sociology classes have had writing assignments.

i mean just lower-division courses
im split between sociology, psychology, and music

My girlfriend is a sociology major who is minoring in psychology. Her sociology classes are always writing; papers for hw and essays on exams. Her psychology classes are more science-like though, with projects and multiple-choice exams.

i got the ap psych credit so i can pass out psych 1
anyone took psych 2,3,4??
do i need to remember anything from psych 1?

Nope you don’t need to remember anything. Psyc 3+4 are pretty easy. Just going to lecture is sufficient.

ok so i think ill take psych over socio
another q
wut about the music classes like music 4 and stuff?
i need to compose music or something? lol…

Mus 4 requires listening to music pieces and memorizing the composer + something profound about the piece. I had McAllister and he was an awesome laid back prof. The midterms were exactly what he said they would be + he gives you a few practice problems so that you know what things he is looking for. (Ex: T/F This piece alternates between 4/4 and 6/8 time)

Nothing hard.

what about mus126?

never taken it so I don’t know. People take it for GEs though and say that it’s not too bad.

5 years old, but should give you some clue to how hard it is. (take home essays…)

I recommend Music 15.

im not really familiar with music courses so is it hard to learn the 4/4 6/8 stuff?
i kinda suck at listening precisely for things
lol…

^Nope. I don’t think it’s hard, but I’ve been doing music for quite a while. Anyway, Music 15 is a class where you pretty much sit and listen to music. I took it when they were offering it for The Beatles and it was great. It was an easy A if you went to the lectures.

by sitting and listening to music do u mean like u have to listen carefully for stuff?
what kinda assignments you had to do?

^Hardly. The assignments were ridiculously easy. Like “What is your favorite Beatles song and why? I expect you to write a quarter of a page and it’s due next week”. And the test questions on the final were like “Who is the drummer of the Beatles? Who is the youngest member? Who founded the band?” It’s totally simple stuff.

too bad they dont offer Beatles this fall
:(

^Since the class can be repeated for credit, I’m taking the Mus 15: Hip Hop class. Join me my minion! Muahahahaha! Hopefully they’ll offer the Beatles class again this year.

are you serious?
you can take it again?
AWESOME
