Public high school vs. Smaller private high school

I want to get into UF. My private small HS in FL doesn’t offer as many AP courses as the public school. Word on the streiet is I’d be better off going to my public school where they offer more honers and AP classes. I’m also hearing the AP classes are easier there. With so many people applying to UF, do they have time to consider my high school’s advantages and disadvantages?

Sorry, just wrote this on my phone and saw all my typos. Please ignore those;)

Sure, UF considers the advantages of a small private school (in Florida). Talk with your school adviser and find out how many students typically make it to UF (and other schools) and what type of grades and classes they needed to take. Also ask them if you should take a few AP online classes over the summer to enhance your chances.

EDIT: Don’t forget that UF uses holistic admissions and your EC’s, volunteer work, sports, clubs, etc, are also important.

I would look closely at the high schools. My son’s private independent HS is a feeder school for Michigan. They have a 90-100% admission rate for students who apply in EA. (there are 3 or 4 others with similar admission rates) The local public HS is about half of that amount. Also keep in mind that the student body compositions differ.

The number of AP courses does not matter, a large public HS might offer 7 languages while your HS may offer 3. You should just take the ones that you can.

The course rigor would be in the context of your high school. In general, I would avoid switching school particularly in the last 2 years. It may disrupt your EC and has weaker relationship with your teachers/GC.

an issue is that UF uses weighted GPA and expects AP/IB/DE/AICE. Does your school allow you to take dual enrollment classes? If so, you should try to take 1-2 this summer, and 1 or more in the Fall.
