Public Policy at Duke

Anyone here majored or taken cources in Public Policy at Duke? Obviously Duke has an amazing school for PP. How interesting/boring are the classes? Are classes mostly tests/papers? How difficult are they to obtain high grades?

I have never really heard of studying "Public Policy" in college until I looked into possible majors at Duke. I'm not really sure exactly what it is or entails or how difficult it is but I noticed that Duke has an amazing school for it.

Public policy is one of my majors. They're pretty interesting. The intro class is pretty big, and can get a little boring. It's curved to a B- (it's basically the PPS equivalent of a science weed out class). The higher level core classes have more specific topics (political analysis in public policy making, an ethics course, macroeconomics for public policy). Most PPS courses are curved to a 3.2, which is pretty nice, especially since my other major is biology, for which most classes are curved to a negative five.

The workload for most classes includes research and papers. Most intro classes also include tests and finals. I haven't started any of the higher levels yet, so I can't give any insight on those.

go to pubpol.duke.edu. I wasn't planning on majoring in public policy until I went to that website (as well as had a few friend recommend it). Check out the possible pathways and see how the courses relate to one another. I think it's a pretty handy major.
