Public Schools: Learning Frugality through Underfunding... and Pregnancies

our head majorette got pregnant a few years ago, followed by the co-head cheerleader. both had scholarship opportunities to UA. both blew them (hard to twirl/cheer with a pregnant belly or a baby)

Actual: around 5/year
Aborted: far more than that, but actual number never revealed
BC pill: can we say 36% of females...

here about 65% pill, 20% condom, 15% "I'll be careful"

so a girl in my grade (8th) went to the bahamas w/ her family over break and had sex with a random 18 year old she met on the beach

I feel that abortion is morally wrong, no matter what the laws permit. Yes, it is murder. That fetus depends on what its mother can provide it, and if conditions are unfavorable, the fetus DIES. The fetus has LIFE, and is therefore a human being. No matter what, I will always see it as murder. In most cases, these dilemmas are caused by irresponsibility and other deplorable things. Please be mature and responsible. Know the consequences of wreckless sex.

I haven't met anyone who's had an abortion yet...

but are you a male?

No, R_V is female.
We have a lot of people here who are rich enough to buy the pill, so they don't care at all about any consequences arising from their decisions. Besides, monogamy is very widespread.

Same here.

i am a christian raised with a catholic mother and i attended 6 years of catholic school. my father was a protestant and i still believe abortion is ok...i dont place my religious beliefs with my opinion on a womans right to abort her unborn fetus

I'm probably just in opposition to it mainly because I most likely would have been aborted, be it not for the magic of an unknown force (I don't want to say "God" yet, because I don't have an established faith).

And how much is the pill? And why does almost everyone here seem to think I'm a dude? It's amusing, actually.

can't you get the pill for free?

if you go to planned parenthood.

It's okay, R_V, people think of me the same way. I thought you were a guy actually, until you revealed your gender in another thread.

By the time I graduate from high school next year, I will have completed eight years of Catholic education. I am agnostic though, but I think pro-choice is okay.

Hehehe... funny. I thought "Vigilante" sounded feminine...

Sure, pro-choice may be okay, for political convenience. But then again, if the fetus were to be found to later be born with a severe genetic disorder (or anencephaly or spina bifida) by which he or she would die early, abortion may be justified. I don't think many people would want their child to suffer and suffer from something terrrible like that. Think of Tay-Sachs and such...

But then again, I think I've just contradicted myself. My mind is so scattered.

a fetus is a part of a womans body until she gives birth. its her body therefore her choice

So you believe that a fetus fits within the age range of 0-9 months (9 months being the time for birth)? I just want to clarify, that's all.

"if you go to planned parenthood."

That SO reminded me of that Mean Girls scene when Regina called that girl's house and said "Hi, is so-and-so there?"
"No, may I take a message?"
"This is Rebecca from Planned Parenthood... please tell her to call back, it's urgent"

I believe similar to prepchick91: a fetus is abortable if severe genetic or other body sicknesses will severely harm or kill the child if born or shortly after birth (ie if it has cystic fibrosis or is born with AIDS).

Mathletes=amazing

It all depends on the circumstances really. If the fetus is like what kman described or if the girl was raped, then yes abortion is okay but if not then its not. Its a waste of time to argue about it in general without a particular case.
