Pulling Cs and Ds in Calc AB yet want to get into Game Design...

Game Design is obviously a pretty CS oriented, and thus math oriented, career path, but my issue is that I have no real aptitude for math beyond some basic Calc… I’m failing Calc this quarter and finished off with Cs in my previous two, so at this rate, my final grade for Calc is probably going to be a low C/high D. I’m getting mostly As in all my other classes (shut the hell your mouth I know I have a C in Physics I’m working on it), but I’m still worried.

Should I start looking into other career fields if I can’t pull myself together in Calc, or are there ways into this field that I can make it without exceptionally strong higher math skills?

You don’t really need Calculus to do CS; you just need it to pass the required classes

Just retake it in college.

There are other routes to game design besides CS as well. You can look into art schools that offer it.

So do you think I’ll be alright if I’m doing solidly in AP CSP and am taking more CS courses next year? And I’m kinda leaning more towards the coding side of game design; either coding or writing, which is why I’m also taking Creative Writing as well as AP Lit next year. The visual arts just ain’t my thang

I’d think you would be fine, coding doesn’t require high-level math. If you know functions, you should be fine.
I’d suggest going into college for Computer Programming, if that’s offered at your college. It’s less math than Computer Science.
