Pumped about BC v ND?

I know this is a college discussion board, but we can still hype up the BC v ND game. I realize that there is a huge rivalry vetween the two schools, so is anyone pumped up for the game?

i can't wait! i'm thinking about storming the field before the game and knocking matt ryan out... i still haven't decided yet

If we pull off a win, it is going to be mayhem...riots, broken stuff, wet people...it is gonna be insane.

Don't rush the field even if it's a down year. The reason for that is hanging from Dillon Hall. If ND students rushed the field, people would just laugh at us and use it to mock the football program.

I am more nervous about it than anything, this is probably the best BC team in years and it is one of our weakest ones. BTW, current students, DO NOT rush the field if we win this game! One of the things that drives me nuts about BC is they put out something in their bookstore (hats, shirts, etc) every time they beat ND with the score on it. It is a big deal to them. If we win, walk out of the stadium like you expected it.

Yeah, dire warnings about rushing the field and mayhem after a win really sounds like it is no big deal...

Yeah, we are pumped about out team this year (with good reason) and I'm looking forward to being in South Bend this weekend to cheer on the Eagles.

I just hope the Irish avoid some really embarrassing score.

Ahh, we have an intruder! I actually didn't realize that the whole rushing the field debate was going on in South Bend until recently since I am no longer there. It is still a big game, don't get me wrong, but I am just sick of the making of t-shirts and caps and things after the game with the score. If we beat BC, great, fantastic, it is just a game. If we make a t-shirt saying we beat #4 BC (and we probably will) it will make me sick....but for what it is worth I would say the same about USC or Michigan.

It isn't that I don't respect BC, I respect your school more than you know and it is a big game. Many of us, including myself, had to choose between ND and BC, which makes it even more interesting. That being said, it is just a game and I hate it when it becomes more than what it is, but that is just me.

Enjoy the best part of this weekend...the Masses after. Seriously, that is the part that I loved the most about this game. Go to one of the dorm Masses after and pray with the fans from the opposite school. It brings everyone together and is amazing, seriously, it is one of my favorite ND memories.

That is a rambling post but just know that it isn't that I don't respect BC (though I think you think we are a bigger rival than we think you are...though we still definitely care), I respect BC a lot. I just hate when it gets into the childish "we are better than you and we are going to rush the field or print t-shirts" level. Enjoy the game, but also enjoy what is special about it, and part of that is that we are the only two Catholic D1 schools that play football. Enjoy the game, enjoy the Mass after, and be safe!

DD says they are selling T-shirts that say BackupCollege. I shared that with a colleague, a BC alum, who admitted it was very funny--the fact is a lot of Catholic kids apply to both, but their heart is with ND.

yeah i was seriously amazed back when i heard the thing about the only 2 D1 catholic football teams... i instantly went through every school in my mind, and finally i'm like yeah that's true lol that's pretty bizarre

BC evidently isn't a backup college for at least one category of students--talented football players.

A lot of football players go where academics will not be as challenging in order to facilitate their athletic career.

Go Irish!!!

"A lot of football players go where academics will not be as challenging in order to facilitate their athletic career." Good point. On the other hand...

Maybe some of the superior academics at certain schools should include throwing the ball to someone who is actually ON the field of play, rather than someone three deep on the sidelines.

I just wanted to thank all of the Irish fans for the hospitality and good sportsmanship they displayed to all of us who came to cheer for Boston College on Saturday. I'd been to ND, but never to a game there, so it was very exciting! And, had it been against some other team, I would have been cheering for the Irish!

All the ND fans we encountered were friendly, fun and were already pretty sure what the outcome was going to be--but the team sure put up a good fight.

Loved the ND bagpipers and especially the ND band--terrific!

I'm glad we could be so hospitable! Sometimes fans let gameday spirit detract from the way they treat others and I'd like to think we don't do that as much here.

like me! :) but no it's all in good fun--there's a big difference between jokingly hassling a BC fan and maliciously hassling them.
