For the activities question in the Common App it says: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences.

How long should this description be, because it says briefly. Also, do they only want a description of the activity or what you learnt from it.

For that Purdue supplemental question the word limit is 250. I would suggest that they want to understand the activity and what you took away from the experience.
