Purdue (Exploratory) or Virginia Tech (CS)

I was admitted to the above programs and i am really confused. Purdue is ranked higher in CS but i also like VT. The GPA required to transfer to CS at purdue is 2.5 and i can transfer before my sophmore year(according to an advisor at purdue without delaying my graduation).

My parent’s think i should avoid the risk and go to VT.

other colleges i was admitted to UCI, Pennstate, Umass Amherst, OSU.

Would really apreciate any feedbacks.

I am an international student so cost would be the same.

Looking at Purdue website, looks like a 3.0 is needed for transfer into CS. A 2.5 would be incredibly low threshold, especially at a school like Purdue.

The big question is can you actually get into the classes you need to transfer in - are they open to everyone or restricted (especially fall semester)?. Also double check that you can really do it in 4 years if you don’t start there - can you actually get the classes you need, when you need them? Would summer sessions be required? Think I’d check with the engineering school on this, not Exploratory - I think they’re trying to sell you on their program so maybe not as upfront about how likely this in in reality.

If you got into CoE at VT, that does take away a lot of risk. Being international, I’d want to do some legwork to see which school would actually fit you better in ways other than just academic

yup i did get into CoE at VT and i do have some friends at VT(who went last year).

How much value do you put on having friends at VT? Being international brings some different perspective to what you’re looking for in a school beyond the degree
