Purdue in state vs free tuition at Alabama

The difference is more than $40k…and we’re not talking about only paying $40k total…it just depends on how much the family can pay.

The family has to pay for ALL costs at Purdue…roughly $110k for four years.
The family has to pay about $50k for remaining costs at Bama.

The question is…does the family have $110k to spend? If not, then…

It is my understanding that the cost for Purdue is still up in the air. If he has the stats to get the scholarship to Alabama he may also have the stats for some sort of scholarship to Purdue. Being an Indiana resident may give him some opportunities for scholarships as well. Comparing full pay at Purdue vs. R&B minus $2500 makes Alabama look pretty good financially. If Purdue were to narrow the gap on tuition then things like travel, hotels, and such will make the comparison financially much closer. However, if we are merely comparing full price to Purdue vs. Alabama with a scholarship, assuming he wants to attend Alabama I think it financially makes the most sense. I still think it’s great to have such options.

Post 100 is a good financial breakdown for many.

Would not make that kind of decision w/o really looking over UA.
