I’m a high school senior planning to major in Mechanical Engineering and I’m currently stuck between Purdue and Georgia Tech, both of which I have been accepted into. Both have great ME programs, but each offers a different variety of extracurriculars as well as a different personality Cost is no issue.
I’m looking to join a high-caliber jazz ensemble, play my saxophone in a jazz combo/other bands, join a good marching band (which both colleges have) and to be involved in the Hyperloop competition (basically building an ultra high-speed train). Purdue already has a Hyperloop team and GT doesn’t, but I’m fairly certain there’s enough interest at GT for a team there to get started. Can someone tell me what the bands are like at each school?
I also want to study abroad in a German-speaking country. Purdue has more options for this, although GT has some quality options as well. Any info from ppl who have been through either program would be greatly appreciated.
I’m in favor of a more geeky social environment as long as it’s not too out there. I’m a bit worried that Purdue’s environment has a typical state college vibe that is very centered around sports, which I probably wouldn’t be into. Is this true?
Any help would be appreciated, as May 1 is days away. Thanks in advance.
