i have to choose between Purdue or UMD college park for aerospace engineering. i am an instate student for maryland, so its ALOT cheaper, but purdue is ranked slightly above CP is aerospace. I liked purdues campus alot and Purdue also has alot of astronaut connections, - something Im really interested in going into - however its very expensive - any advice on where to go? ( i love both college sports teams so thats not an issue :P)

Well, since Purdue is more expensive…

Are your parents happy to pay the higher price? If not, how will you cover it? What does Purdue’s FA package look like?

Can you go to UM for 2 years (for cheaper) and then transfer to Purdue to graduate?

How much more will you pay for Purdue?

For the 2009-10 school year the COA’s are:

OOS Purdue: $36,848

Instate UM: $21,459

About a $15k difference. $60k for four years.

Remember, they will be higher for 2010-11

actually i have to pay 41k for purdue - and i received no FA at all. so is it still worth it to go to Purdue over college park?

^^^NO! 10 char

So it’s actually an $80,000 difference over 4 years?

The only question in my mind is how well off your family is. If you can easily afford to pay to go to your dream school, then why not? But if you’re talking about borrowing the difference, then UMD all the way.
