I am looking to apply to Purdue Vet Scholars. Here are my stats:
ACT: 29
GPA: 4.17
Vet experience: work at local clinic, Tufts summer program, equine center shadowing
Animal experience: volunteer at animal shelter, volunteer at wildlife rehab center
Community service: 3 foreign mission trips, Sunday school teacher, active church volunteer, animal shelter fundraiser organizer
Leadership: Honor Society president, class secretary, Key Club president, SADD secretary

Congratulations on your HS achievements. In looking at Tufts and Kansas State University admission requirements, the minimum ACT is 29. Your GPA is higher, (is this weighted)? Most likely, they will re-calculate. You have a solid, well rounded record of EC’s. There are several topics posted in this forum discussing these programs, it may be helpful for you to read the older posts. Best of luck.
I hope everthing goes well for you! Our daughter went through the process last year and was accepted. The selection process was fairly rigorous, but one of the things that I believe helped her was the number of AP math and science classes she took (and her exam scores). Her ACT score was a 34 and her unweighted gpa was a 3.88 (weighted was a 4.4). Your activities and ECs look great!

This is the information from Kansas State: Students with a 29 or higher composite ACT score or a 1280 or higher SAT combined score qualify for application to the Veterinary Scholars Early Admission Program. The ACT score of 29 is the minimum. Have you tried the SAT to see if you can get a higher score?
The mid 50% range of ACT scores for Tufts is 31-34.
Your ACT score will be a disadvantage to acceptance into these programs due to the large number of students who apply and will have stronger scores.
I’m not sure how much a 29 on the ACT would hurt your chances of getting in. Some of it will depend on what AP science and math classes you took and what your exam and class grades were. They are looking for students with a very strong math and science (especially chemistry) background. They want to know that you’ll be able to be sucessful in the tougher classes like organic chem, biochem, physics, etc. On the positive side, you have very good animal activities and ECs. .
