I am an international student. I got my B.S in Civil Engineering at UNL, and applied a few graduate schools focus on Construction Engineering/Management. The reason why I chose construction instead of civil (structural) is Virtual Construction and Design.
At the end of March, I got accepted to Northwestern, UMich, Purdue, and Columbia. All of them are major in Construction Engineering/Management. I am also waiting for UW-Seattle. Personally, I am prefer Purdue, UW, and Columbia. I hope I can got a job in US after graduate, at least an internship. Please help me to make a right decision. Thanks.
You won’t be eligible for a job offer in the U.S. unless your prospective employer agrees to sponsor you. Many U.S. employers prefer to avoid the regulations and paperwork that is required to sponsor foreign nationals in the U.S.
Yes, that’s true. I know it is very hard for us, but lots of my friends still find a good job (with sponsor) after years searching.
Hi, I am currently a student at Purdue and I am in CEM of Purdue. I also get the offer from Purdue and Columbia for CEM, I am also struggling with my choice.

I got accepted for CEM in UMich, Northwestern, UIUC and Columbia(among others). Which one should I go for, any suggestions? I am slightly more inclined to go to Columbia
I think you should go for Columbia over Purdue @mkampalading. Wherever you go should be in close proximity with a city for interships and a better life
Thank you. @redwarrior12345 I think so too. Columbia has a good location and most flexible curriculum.
Columbia or Northwestern since they are target schools.
Civil engineering or construction firms may not want to hire you because of your visa status, but plenty consulting and finance firms will. You will make more coming in as an IB or Consulting analyst than civil engineers with PEs and 10 years of experience. Trust me, I am one and have been fighting tooth and nail to switch to finance.
