Purdue vs UMich for Undergrad Aerospace

Would you guys recommend Purdue Aerospace Engineering or UM Aerospace Engineering for undergrad ? Cuz according to USNews rankings, UM is 3rd ranked for aerospace engineering for undergrads, whereas Purdue is 4th. But keeping other factors in mind too, which one would you guys choose ?

If you are in-state for either, easy decision.

I’m international @snarlatron

In Engineering, Michigan and Purdue are peer institutions. Overall, Michigan is a better university, but Purdue is also excellent. Ann Arbor is more conveniently located and nicer than West Lafayette. Both universities have large international student communities. Michigan costs roughly $15,000/year more than Purdue. If your parents can easily pay for both, I recommend Michigan. If cost of attendance is an area of concern, than Purdue makes better sense.

Both are well respected in aerospace. 3 vs 4 is splitting hairs even if you took the usnwr rankings as gospel, which most employers won’t.

The M/F ratio at Michigan is 50/50, at Purdue it is 58/42. Purdue is excellent in the sciences and engineering, Michigan is excellent in almost everything with the majority of departments ranking in the Top 10. In engineering every department except Chemical (#13) is ranked in the top 10.
