When I applied to Pepperdine University on November 15, 2005, I was under the assumption that it was an Early Action decision plan. Then, about a week later, I was sorely disappointed to discover that I was wrong about this assumption. Now, 3 months later, I still do not understand the purpose of why I applied before the deadline for the so-called "Priority Application." The university's website talks about having priority for scholarships, but I didn't apply for any, nor do I qualify for need-based aid. So, to finally get to my point, is there any benefit to my applying as a Priority Application applicant?

in short, no. i'm in the same boat, applied way back in november and haven't heard from them since (aside from the occasional email). in fact, the whole lack of interaction has made me really frustrated with them. anyways, that was before i met someone from my church group who actually works in the admission department. she said you don't even get priority with aid. her exact words:

"you should have just saved yourself a lot of stress by applying in january instead."

needless to say, i'm not going to pepperdine anymore. i'm going to USD, where they care a whole lot more about their students.

that's not to discourage other people from thinking about pepperdine though. i live ten minutes away from the school and believe me, it is amazingly beautiful. it all depends on what you value most though. for me, i'd rather be at a school where at least they ** attempt ** to show that they care.
