I heard rumor that some of the auditions are actually held in hotel rooms-
Is this true?

dreamatinydream: I haven’t heard that rumor, but if they are, the beds will be moved out of the room and the room will be arranged to look a lot less awkward than a traditional hotel room!

princessjpmom: Oh, it’s not at the Majestic? Then I need to see what’s playing there. When I checked what would be playing there during that week, it said Phantom. Hmmm…must check it out!

Flying into O’Hare on Saturday, early afternoon. We’re not in any rush to get to the PHH-- should I save a little $$ and take the subway? (I don’t have an issue taking public transportation, unless it happens to go thru an “unsavory” part of town for a while. I’ve taken the subway from Midway before.) I think the train takes about an hour, right?

Or, should I just suck it up and take a taxi? (It would be nice to save the money…)

Just wondering what others were doing, or what they recommend.

SU88, I’m coming into Midway. How long does the train take from there? I have no problem with a subway, but I’m thinking we’ll have too much stuff with us so I’m leaning toward a super shuttle or something like that.

My D takes the El from Midway to her Wabash Building dorm (Orange line, Harold Washington library stop) and it takes 20 to 30 minutes. This station is a couple of blocks from Parker House but you might want to check and see if there is a closer stop. Also most people on this train have lots of “stuff” bc it terminates at the airport.

Yeah, I’m definitely doing a shuttle. I’ve been on a subway (DC) with bulky luggage and just don’t like it.

We flew into Midway. We were traveling with another mom & daughter and TONS of “stuff.” A dad & son were on our flight & they took the train in while we got a cab (actually a minivan). The dad & son were checking in at the same time we were, so travel time was the same. It was bitterly cold (around 7) and snow on the ground. I don’t think we could have walked the block or so from the train stop to the front of the hotel! The dad and son said it was “easy!”

SU88BFA … The train from O’Hare to downtown Chicago is super easy! O’Hare is the starting/end of the line so super easy to travel into town with luggage, especially on a Saturday afternoon. Just take the blue train into town. You will walk thru tunnels at O’Hare to the station so it’s all underground. Just follow the signs for train to downtown. Once you get to the station, there are vending machines to buy your ticket. A one way ticket into town is $5. Much of the train is above ground and/or elevated so it’s a great way to see some of Chicago as well. You will get off the train at the Monroe/Dearborn stop. Once you get off at Monroe, you will head down Monroe with the traffic (eastbound). Hope this helps. “Break legs” to all that are auditioning!

Being from Florida, I am pretty clueless about most public transportation…We are just going to bite the bullet and take a cab. We are flying into Midway and will arrive around noon Sunday.

AlisMom-- Thanks for the info. I figured getting on the train at OHare would be fairly simple. I’m pretty familiar/comfortable with public transit-- I’m never afraid to ask questions (much to the chagrin of the males in my family …rolls eyes…).

I think I’ll just see what the weather’s doing that day in Chicago-- If it’s clear we’ll most likely take the train-- The 1 block we have to walk should be relatively clear. If it’s raining-- or more likely snowing-- we’ll probably appreciate the door-to-door service a taxi can give us.

OMG! 3 weeks from tomorrow!!!
