[Q] What is the first cut GPA for UC Berkeley?

You are absolutely right Mamagochi. There is no guarantee for admission. You really just need to do your best and see what happens. Also make sure to really put time into your essay. That is the part of the application that can really set you apart.

i meet with have met with 3 different counselors. some are morons that tell me conflicting information that could have led to me wasting my time taking 10 unnecessary language units and not completing IGETC.

they told me to take 10 units to satisfy the transfer agreement for UCSD when my gpa is high enough that i will get in without satisfying the agreement, so now i will spend my time satisfying the IGETC and make myself eligible for UCSD, UCLA, and UCB instead of just making myself eligible for UCSD

moral: meet with many different counselors, and frequently, until you have mapped out all of the classes you will take until you graduate college

I was in a similar situation to you. TAG is pretty worthless; IGETC is a much better plan if you can get a good gpa.

I agree with Gabe, skip the TAG. Even moreso if you are already taking a lot of courses as a science or engineering major. TAG is only useful as a boost if you have very low gpa.

is there even such thing as a TAG with berkeley or ucla? i know that my school doesnt have TAGS with UCB or LA.

Mine neither. I know that SMC has one with UCLA though so it exists somewhere. Interestingly, one of my 2 CCC (Foothill College) has a transfer agreement with Cornell. How cool is that?

Whatttt

Really? I heard of those for east coast CCs, but I didn't know they did it for California :o

Really! Look here:

<a href="http://www.foothill.edu/transfer/taa.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.foothill.edu/transfer/taa.html</a></p>

Minimum GPA to maintain for the TAA to Cornell is only 3.5. I don't know much the TAA will help with admissions though, but anything helps since transferring from a CC to private is alreadydifficult as it is. I would love to do engineering at Cornell but I doubt I can afford private school. :(

EDIT: I just that notice Foothill college has a TAA with UCLA too. And one with UC Riverside too, lol.

3.5 to 3.9 is common from transfers from community colleges

i was mixing up TAG and the transfer agreements. TAG is the honors program thing for UCLA, and the transfer agreements thing is what isnt really necessary IMO but the whole tag thing for UCLA seems awesome
