<p>If you’re talking about the entire A&O session, then yes, it is done in groups. However, advising itself is 1:1 (everyone gets scheduled to a different time slot—if within the same time frame, then they’ll all get different general advisors). </p>
<p>*simply put, orientation is done in groups and meeting with an advisor to plan for future quarters is done 1:1. </p>
<p>He will not have one specific advisor until he declares his major (randomly assigned each time I think). Once he gets admitted to a major department, he will get to choose an advisor each time he signs up for advising (same advisor or not = all up to him). </p>
