QB or Harvard SCEA?

I know getting matched by QB is a difficult thing, as well as getting into Harvard, but I'll soon be facing the decision to choose one over the other. Most, if not all (haven't looked into it yet) of the QB partner schools (that I would like to attend) would give me financial aid if I apply RD and get in. So should I choose to apply to QB with the chance of being bound to a college and not being able to even apply for my dream college? Or should I chase the dream and still make use of QB by doing the NCM without ranking schools. yes I know if I don't get matched, which is a fairly high %, I can still apply to Harvard RD

yes I'm aware that I have given you no academic background, I want this "survey" or advice to be completely pure per say. Some may say they can't make an informed decision without my stats, but I'm asking what would YOU do, + why.

I will give you this though: my income is <20,000, and my UW GPA is 3.98

So in short: in this situation, QB or Harvard SCEA?

Haha this is kind of the same thing with me. I posted a thread on this forum a few days ago about this: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/questbridge-programs/1528555-apply-questbridge-not.html

Anyways, I personally am leaning towards applying through QB, because I assume that your chances don’t really increase when applying through SCEA unless you are a hooked applicant (Recruited athlete, legacy, parents donated a few million dollars, etc.). I think I can increase my chances at other top tier colleges through QB (Stanford, Yale, MIT, Princeton). So I think I would be better off applying to 4 other top colleges that I am also very fond of as they all have excellent programs for my prospective major with my chances increased, as opposed to apply to Harvard SCEA without a boost of chances since I’m not that hooked.

The link to your post helped me so much! You put it so much more eloquently than I. I think what I’ll do is apply to the non-binding schools.
Follow-up question: If I apply to QB and only rank the non-binding schools, can I still apply else where EA/ED? or only RD? because if I were to be matched and then apply to other places RD, will I be given the time to receive the results from the schools I applied to RD and then make a final decision?

I believe that you can rank your schools through either ED/EA or RD. If you rank your non binding schools EA, then you can only apply to other non QB schools RD. If you rank your schools RD through QB, then you may apply to other non QB schools ED/EA. Because these schools are non binding, you could apply to other schools of your choice RD. From then, you can choose between all your EA and RD acceptances. However, if you were to apply to a binding school such as Columbia University ED or RD, then you must attend. So in our case, we would be applying to Harvard through RD, and all these QB non-binding schools through EA. This means that if you get accepted to all EA schools as well as Harvard, then you can pick from all these univeristies. But if you were to rank first to a school like Columbia ED, and you get accepted, then you must attended even if you get accepted into Harvard.

Sorry if that was a bit confusing!

haha, i totally got that all
I was just a bit freaked out on whether I would be given time to receive results my RD schools. After a little research, EA programs have normal reply deadline. Also I get the difference between EA/ED now.
