Quadrangle vs New College House for incoming Wharton undergraduate freshmen

Hi,
I would like to have a single room because at Penn but I still want to have freshmen experience and am kind of hesitant whether to choose Quad or New College house. Any ideas?
Thanks

My son is in the same situation, and is an incoming freshman like you.
In his thinking, socialization is more important to him than new. He feels that being w 1500 freshmen in the Quad is better than 300 freshmen in New College house for social. Also He is in Wharton, and hears that is about a 10-15 min walk from New College house … to him, that is too far in Jan.

I have heard that the bathrooms are disgusting in the Quad and that you can get some leaky, mold filled rooms there… and the fact that the New College house has a dining Hall in it is really convenient … If it was me, I’d choose New, but I can’t seem to convince him of that.

The Quad is very old so there are constant repairs going on. The New College House will have nicer facilities but I think the Quad has a better social atmosphere. I must say though, the dorms at Penn are not very far from each other at all…even Kings Court, Hill, and the New College House (which are considered “further” from campus") are still very close. A 15 minute walk is a reach…it would be more like 10 minutes to the Huntsman building at the very most. Also, you can get a social experience no matter where you live.

@runswimyoga If he wants to be close to the quad, but you are concerned about the amenities in the Quad, have him check out Stouffer.
