Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about doing 10-15 hours of work study a week. Problem is, I'm an international student who did not apply for financial aid. Do I still qualify for work-study?

Thanks for your help!

Sorry you don’t… Internationals are not eligible for federal work study programs irrespective of their financial aid status. But the F1 visa allows you to work up to 20 hours a week on campus during term and full time during the holidays so you should be okay as long as you find a job

Oh no, yea, I wasn’t planning on getting a federal or off-campus job but just one on campus.

Then you should be alright. A word of caution though. Other CCers told me that students under federal work study get half their wages from the government and the other half from the employer, which means that employers would prefer a federal work study student as it’s cheaper for them. Not sure about this though so maybe someone else could shed some light :D
