Qualifying as In-State for Tuition Purposes in North Carolina???

I heard that it is disgustingly easy to qualify for residency in North Carolina, but from looking at their qualifications it doesn't look so to me. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows how anal retentive the application administration is about looking into the information. Basically, the guy I talked to said that you could just push everything back a couple months (which is what I'd have to do) and they wouldn't look into it. Obviously, I want to confirm this information before I go ahead and do it, lol. I also don't want to have to pay the extra $12,000 for my first year and I also don't want to have to put off starting for another year since I missed the cut-off point by just a month, if you know what I mean. If anyone out there has any information or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

it's not. from what i know, you need to prove that you have been residing in NC for at least a year, and that your sole purpose for being there wasn't school. for example, you'd probably have to live there for a year and get a job, etc. do you really think that they are just going to let the extra twelve grand slip by because you pushed it back? not true at all.

I didn't think it was true, that's why I wanted to double check. Thanks.

What about Michigan?
