Quality of education at UC vs CSU

I was wondering if people can give me some information of the quality of education at UC’s for CSU, especially for engineering and STEM. The schools I am deciding between are cal poly SLO and UCSB for electrical engineering, so if you can give more specific information on the quality at these schools, that would be much appreciated!

bump

Definitely cal poly slo for any engineering you’ll have hands on work right in the beginning

can i please get more information!

Both are excellent. SLO is a tech school, so there’s less of a variety of majors, and the town is a bit quieter, with a lot of character, and the beach nearby. You apply to your major right away and it’s very hard to change tracks.
UCSB isn’t known as a party school for nothing so request a quiet dorm if you’re in engineering. All bright students, more variety than at SLO (attitude, majors…) and it’s fairly easy to change majors.
Both have lots of research, lots of resources, gorgeous campus.
Did you do an overnight?

@MYOS1634‌ ok, well i know that my after college professions are narrowed down to engineering and actuarial science. do you think I would be able to pick up a minor in math or something (maybe computer science) fairly easily?

and what exactly do you mean by tech school? like a hands on trade school?

no, “tech school” “techie school” = a college where the vast majority of students go for stem-related fields, in particular engineering or CS - although SLO also has a highly respected business school and a nationally ranked architecture school.
Yes, minors at SLO aren’t restricted that I know of (beside the obvious pre-requisite classes.)

@MYOS1634‌ do you know how difficult it would be to switch from EE to CS at SLO?

also, would you say that the educational quality of engineering at SLO are slightly below that of UCSB and the other UC’s?

I’d say SLO is on par with UCSB for engineering, and above UCSC, UCR, and UCM.
However, UCs are more flexible.

Hands down i would pick cal poly. It is the #3 public college in calif after Berkeley and ucla. The engineering program is top notch. And best of all less expensive.
