So i'll be attending Rutgers university this upcoming fall and am planning on being an economics major. Rutgers offers a certificate in quantitative economics. So can someone tell me just exactly what this is and if it will give me an advantage in finding a job?

Quantitative economics is a more rigorous approach to economics. You will take more math and statistics. The advantage of this is that analytical skills are always valued in the workplace. I believe it will give you more flexibility in choice of careers. Furthermore, it will prepare you for graduate school in economic should you decide to go that way.

Thank you very much that is exactly what I wanted to hear!

Can you or anyone let me know of any possible careers with this certificate. Specifically ones that pay decent

You can get into any variety of jobs. Actuary. Marketing research. Investment analyst. Business analytics. You can get into banking on many levels. I know a couple econ majors who have done quite well in sales and marketing. The thing that the certificates does for you is give you more flexibility because as I said earlier analytic skills are always valuable. Also, make sure you have good computer skills.
