hey, on some other threads I saw that some early applicants were getting requests from
Harvard to submit their quarter grades. is it a bad sign if Harvard doesn’t request your quarter grades before going into full committee?
Most US high schools are on the SEMESTER system, and as the fall semester runs from August/September to December/January, quarter grades are not an issue for the majority of US students applying in the SCEA round.
That said, if your high school is on a quarter system, and Harvard has asked your GC for your quarter grades, I would take that as a positive sign that your file is of interest (unfortunately, that doesn’t mean you’re in).
If Harvard has NOT asked your GC for your 1st quarter grades, it could be that your freshman, sophomore, and junior grades were strong enough that Harvard doesn’t need confirmation of the 1st quarter grades to make their decision. It could also mean that your application will not be going to committee. It’s difficult to make any sort of determination at this point. Best of luck to you!
It could be that these applicants have lower test scores or have had low grades in the past and Harvard admissions officers would like their current grades to see if it can help boost their application for the committee. I also noticed that many of these applicants said they were taking all APs this year and that Harvard could be just checking on their progress with that workload. Don’t stress about it! I haven’t gotten an email yet and I’m sure many other applicants who have made it to committee haven’t either
