So basically I do really like Northwestern but these are some reasons as to why I wouldn't want to like apply ED, so can someone clear up these questions I have?

1) The quarter system is really hard, because 2 sets of mid-terms and final exams are all crammed in an intense 10 weeks. That kind of makes me feel uneasy because I want to do a lot extracurriculars as well. So is the Quarter System hard? Is it really rigorous if you're a Pre-Med? This is the main reason why I wouldn't want to go to NU, quarter system sounds like too much manageability/planning required. Especially if I want to let's say double major with extracurriculars.
2) I know the Theater scene is AMAZING! But I'm kind of worried because I think that any plays or musicals going on, most of the Theater majors would get the main roles for :/ I know that sounds stupid, but is it difficult to get good parts even if you're not a Theater major?
3) The weather. Aaaaackkk! Chicago, so obviously Winters are hell. But are they depressing? I met an NU student and she was like I have to admit that Winters do get quite depressing. And is it manageable? I live in a really warm region, and have lived in one my whole life.
4) Social life. I've heard it's VERY Greek dominated. Like 40% or something? I may be wrong, but I'm not a Frat person, maybe attend the parties and stuff but that's about it. Not join one, but you can still have a social life without joining one right?? Like let's say hang out in your dorm on a Saturday night or go out to a non-Frat parties (do those even happen??)
5) The area surrounding the campus, how is it? Evanston, is it a nice, little college town?

If someone could just please clear up these doubts for me, I'd really love it :) I really like NU but just some of those things make me feel dark about it, like everyone just studies or something. Please don't take offense intended to anyone! I'm still learning about the school which is why ask these questions :)

^Premed courses are at the SAME pace as those in other schools. We cover 1/3 of the book per quarter while others cover 1/2 of the book per semester. It s*cks you have 3 finals per year but you cram less for each final.

It is the quarter system that allows you to double major more easily. You take 12 classes per school year vs 8 at a semester school. It does move a bit faster though.

There are many ways to participate in the theatre shows, being a major is not required. Don’t know your talent so I don’t know if you’ll get cast, but auditions are open to all students.

Weather - it is what it is. Last year there was a good amount of snow and not all that cold so the winter was fun. Two years ago it was practically record breaking cold, below zero especially with wind factored in.

Greek life - insignificant in so many ways. Great social life without it.

Evanston is a great college town.

You definitely need to visit, your questions will be answered much better that way.

Everything in this thread gets a +1 from me, but I will add:

Greek life- you have no idea if you’re interested or not, believe me. Soooooo many different types of people are involved, and a huge swath of those were the same as you- myself included.

Quarter system is awesome, I would hate semester systems and I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did during my four years.

Yeah the theater community is pretty stand-offish to non-theater kids. I tried out for Fall generals, got call backs, but when was asked my major, which at the time was Chem and Econ, I got a lot of stares and then was instead offered a role as “Business Assistant”. Whatever, you’ll find other things to do that are just as, if not more fun.

The weather can sometimes suck. But buy a jacket and warm stuff, walk with friends, take the shuttle, drink hot chocolate, and get over it!

Social life is what you make of it. End of story… you can rage and be a fratstar or you can be a holed up Slivka kid. It’s really your choice.

I love Evanston. Great places to eat and things to do… good college town for sure.
