I’m a student from a Quebec CEGEP (2-year college after grade 11 and before college) wants to attend a University in Ontario or possibly in the United States. In Quebec, the Universities here will only ask for your CEGEP transcript but since I want to be applying to a school out of Quebec, will they ask for my High School and CEGEP transcript or just one or the other?
I also went to a very small private school so would they even know to send in the transcript because most people who graduate from there rather go to McGill than out of province school.
Thanks
I would guess that only a small percent of the people who post regularly on CC even know what a CEGEP is. I would think that admissions in Ontario or in the maritimes will know exactly what it is. As such, I would be inclined to contact admissions somewhere such as Queen’s or Dalhousie and ask them. I have found admissions at universities in Canada to be very helpful.
In my experience, for a Canadian graduating from a US university, it is very difficult to find work in Canada because Canadian employers prefer to hire from Canadian schools, and very difficult to find work in the US because getting a work visa is somewhere between difficult and impossible. Also of course as an international student university in the US is horribly expensive. As such you are probably better off in Canada (whether inside or outside of Quebec) rather than in the US.
You will need to send both to apply in the US. It is your responsibility to find out where your high school needs to send the transcripts for each college or university here, and then pass that information on to the high school.
