I'm hoping to apply for the QuestBridge Scholarship next year, and I would like some advice. Is the process extremely rigorous? Has it been helpful? Also, what are the scores of those who got accepted in terms of the PLAN and the PSAT? What scores are they looking for? I'm asking because I didn't do as well as I was hoping on both exams, but I will do very much better on the SAT Reasoning next year. Will this hurt me? What general advice can anyone offer when it comes to the admissions process?

Thanks in advance.

Bump! BTW, I'm looking for advice on the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship.

Even though I didn't get the scholarship, i think it has been extremely helpful! I'm pretty sure that my application(and because I had good scores) are the reasons why so many of quest bridges partner colleges sent me applications for all-expense paid visits. It was rigorous, but not tooo bad. Just don't send it in the day of! I don't really know the scores of others, but knowing a few people who got them, I think they were quite high, but Questbridge tells you they look for high scorers/students who excel academically. Make sure you have great recs and even better essays, Good luck!

Thanks! Any more advice?

I did it and what helped the most have been the newsletters and having most of the application filled out by the time I applied for the College Match program. I'm hoping down the road that Questbridge follows through with internship and job mentoring mentioned in the WSJ article (posted on another thread) . I was unable to attend the seminar at Yale this summer because I was at a summer program in NYC and I'm not very hopeful about being matched but hopefully during RD I'll get some great options.

Now, the College Prep Scholarship is separate from the College Match, right? So, normally you would apply for the College Prep and then the College Match?

Yes, College Prep decision (whether you get a seminar, summer program, etc.) usually happens in the Spring of your Junior Year - you apply in the beginning of 2008... and then you apply for College Match program in Sept of 2008 of your Senior year. It's a good idea to take your SAT/ACT early in your Junior year although I didn't take my SAT subject tests until this October. Also start working on essays now.

No. They're completely separate. Many do apply to the Match program, but many do not. You have no obligation to apply, nor is there any expectation of you to apply. They are simply two programs run by QuestBridge.

All of this is answered on the site.

QuestBridge Home Page

Do essay topics vary from year to year? I ask because I want to start working on essays now using last year’s topics.

Both the CP and CM applications are probably around 85% similar (at least the past couple years). The CM is longer and more essays. I mean it couldn't hurt to start on your essays - I found that most adapted well for the Common Application, TASP, GHP and other summer programs and college aps.

All right, thanks everyone! One more thing, what is the most seen SAT score range? Does anyone know?

Bumping once more!
