Questbridge College Prep Scholars Application 2018

I just wanted to re-ask a question I previously posted… if I don’t do NCM is being a questbridge prep scholar still a legit thing to put on my app?

@MangoLover11223 Do you mean college apps? Like adding “College Prep Scholar” on your resume? I think it’s definitely an achievement/award you should put on your resume.

Ahh I can’t believe I got in! I was so surprised haha! I know it’s still a long way to go but I’m so grateful lol
To the ones who did not get it: It could just be your family income or maybe you are just not what they are looking for. You can apply for different scholarships other than Questbridge- The main point is you still have time to improve and hey! Who says that you can’t apply for the college match? Some people were rejected in junior year, but they applied during their senior year and got matched by their dream colleges~ No one ever knows what is going to happen! Don’t give up

@aatd2 yep I meant college apps! Thanks so much!

I can’t believe I got in!!! Did anyone get invited to the Stanford conference June 24th??? And is the nomination for paid trips a general thing??? (Starting to regret that I put MIT as Undecided on the National college Match section of CPS…) oh well! Congrats to everyone else who got accepted as well

@Peanutbowow I also got an invitation to the Stanford conference  I’m pretty sure the nomination for college visits is a general thing, but it’s then up to the college to choose the students. Congrats to everyone who got in by the way !!!

Congratulations to all the finalists!

Sadly, I wasn’t selected and I do admit I’m a bit crushed about it. I felt I had a strong application, so that makes it even more devastating.

If I had to guess, it was probably my family’s income that got my application tossed in the “no” pile. While it looks like ‘a lot’ on paper, my family’s medical expenses (not covered by insurance) actually puts us below the max 65K. Now I’m questioning whether or not I should even bother to apply for NCM with QuestBridge.

@brainstormcouture definitely still apply for NCM! There are people who don’t get selected for CPS and get matched. I didn’t think I would get CPS and almost didn’t even apply! But in the end, I learned that trying is the best you can do. You don’t know what the results will be but at least you tried.

I got in!! I was invited to the Rice University Conference but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it since it is so far from where I live and I wasn’t offered a travel grant.

@brainstormcouture Did you emphasize your family’s financial situation in the essays/additional info? I think my rejection was also related to my family income. I personally felt my application was very strong. However, our income is above the average… but I also have a large (7+) family and other extenuating circumstances. I’m regretting not emphasizing that more.

Is any of you planning to start a fundraiser for the national college conference if you guys did not get the travel grant
Idk if I should do it lol seems like it’s a lot of work

Also if we RSVP are we required to be there no matter what (like can I just reserve my spot first to see if I can get enough $$)

I got in to CPS! with nomination for telementoring and for all-expenses paid campus visits. However, I was invited to the virtual Yale conference. Does this mean I was not as strong as the other candidates or is it because I live in New Jersey? But I also read that people 7-8 hours away got into the actual one, so I’m a little confused.

Same! ^^ honestly I have a thing during the summer so I’m not even sure I’ll go. Will that look weird, does anyone know?

i was also invited to the virtual yale conference  at first i thought it was since i didn’t live near any of the other conferences at the different schools but now i’m a lil confused

Wait…are our applications automatically converted into National College Match applications by Questbridge?

@studythisorthat I think so. I think the app for NCM is similar but there’ll be additional essays and more college app stuff. But at least we’ll have all our personal/family info, grades, test scores, and transcripts already uploaded.

Is it bad that I didn’t apply to any of the stuff in the awards section to do summer programs and stuff? I wouldn’t be able to go to any of the summer programs because I have two summer, dual enrollment classes at the local community college and I thought this would be more important to take since they would boost my GPA (they are worth 5.0).If I had been accepted but not gone, there would be really no point right?

@Carl7182 No, don’t worry. If you already had something planned for the summer, it really does not matter that you didn’t apply to any. Doesn’t look bad in any way  it also means you’re leaving a chance to people who don’t have anything planned! So you’re all good!

Hey, guys, where does it say your feedback on what you submitted? Like if you got a 9/10 on the essay or something? Because I wanted to find out what I need to improve on and stuff. Thanks!
