Questbridge College Prep Scholars Application 2018

My advice to save that essay last. You need to divide the writing prompts each day.

@Youngmis123 Thanks! I think that working on the short answers first would definitely help me with ideas.

Yeah, I would definitely start with the short answers since the biographical essay is much longer and in-depth. I would suggest anyone struggling while writing to watch some QuestBridge webcasts (Questcasts) on YT. Their channel name is QuestBridge and they have a multitude of videos to help in the process.

Webcasts definitely seem helpful, especially the application readings.

On another note, only 25 days until apps are due! Has anyone gotten much further than they were last week? I haven’t finished any of my short essays yet, which was my goal for this week. :expressionless:

Lol nope, I’ve logged in to upload some files but haven’t done any of the essays yet…

@sudania @kkayli27 Nope. . . other than asking my teacher for a rec. and doing test scores. Basically, the easy stuff. I don’t want to procrastinate with my essays but I can’t settle on a topic for any of them.

I’ve finished my first drafts of the short answers, but they’re really rough. I’m sending them to a teacher so that she can guide me because she’s known for helping people write the best essays.

@tdampadu Props to you for at least having something down! I’m in the same boat as @Findthejoy.

Hi everyone, my S19 completed and submitted his CPS app yesterday. Like most of you, he spent a lot of time writing and re-writing his answers - but he organized his thoughts on paper before the app was available.

Good luck to everyone!

@romns116 wow looks like he’s ahead of the game! But how did he know what to write before apps opened?

@kkayli27
He didn’t know the exact prompts, but he knew he was going to write a personal statement. He’s into film, so storytelling is his thing.

@romns116 oh I see well good luck to him!

The application is so in depth! I guess it’s good practice for actual college applications though. I’m looking forward to submitting. Good luck everyone!

Don’t forget to also fill out the short essays for the awards if you’re doing them! I’m applying for the STEM, New Americans and USA Quest for Excellence Awards.

Is anyone interested in starting a group chat for us prep scholars applicants? For moral support/advice/whatever

Applying too!

I haven´t listened to any of the questcast videos yet. So far I have sent all my supplements in. I just need my essays done and my income info

I was planning on making some of my short answer responses funny, just because I can’t think of anything serious to write about for them (first and maybe even second question specifically). So in that case, should I go for it? I have no idea how serious QB is when it comes to accepting students, so I don’t know if humor would be seen as immature or inappropriate :frowning:

@minkyhinky I think that’s a great way to showcase your personality! As long as you are actually answering the questions, you should be fine. Some of my essays will be humorous as well but I am double-checking that my responses actually provide QB with relevant information about myself.

12 days until submission - how far is everyone into their applications?

Two more short essays to write and the income section left… I love procrastination.
