I’d just like to say that the people who were accepted weren’t only accepted based on heir financial situation. I don’t believe this program is to find the “poorest” people to help. I think everyone who was chosen showed passion and initiative in either their essays, grades, or extracurriculars. I know nobody has said that they are chosen only for their financial situation, but it almost sounds as though some people do believe that is the case here. Again, I’m not targeting anyone but some of the things I’ve read here- and some things my friends have said to me- makes me believe that’s the perceived notion for some people… Congratulations to everyone who won CPS, you got recognition for the work you’ve done in your academic life. To all those who weren’t chosen, don’t give up hope, this doesn’t predict anything, there may be multiple reasons as to why you weren’t chosen. I personally know at least 5 people who were not chosen but had AMAZING accomplishments. They’ve contributed this to their financial situation, which always makes me feel crummy because it fells degrading. Again, I’m not targeting anyone on this thread AT ALL. I was just making an observation and needed somewhere to rant.
You guys are all amazing :))
Question: Have people already been contacted for the Yale Global Scholar program? I know Questbridge said mid-may but I saw on Yale’s website that they already chose their candidates. Did anyone who applied through Questbridge get contacted?
I applied too! No news back yet. Fingers crossed.
Wondering the same here. I think we’ll get our results for YYGS mid-May because I haven’t heard anyone hear back yet.
Did anyone else apply to the Notre Dame one?
Did anyone apply to the Boston Surgical Institute program???
@PrayingIGetIn I was wondering the same thing! Where did you see that we would be notified by late May?
Hey on our acceptances, the end said that we would receive an email soon with more details. When should we get the email by?
Anyone got any idea what I should do after being accepted to CPS? I wasn’t expecting it so I have no idea ): I didn’t apply for any of the awards, and a friend who wasn’t a CPS is telling me to wait to apply to College match too, should I do as she says?
@KindaLostlol Yes, definitely apply for NCM! I think the CPS app is similar to the NCM so a lot of info will transfer over and QB also said they’d help us with the NCM app as Prep Scholars. And as a bonus, the majority of those selected as CPS are NCM finalists so you’ll have a better chance for it.
Did any of you get emails from schools for the college visits? And did anyone hear back from the Stanford summer session for those who applied?
can someone ask Questbridge Q and A for when the email with details comes out
@ineedhelp5 … you can
@ineedhelp5 Questbridge just sent a new email
The only award opportunity I signed up for was the Pioneer Research program and I didn’t make it. I can’t feasibly afford to travel to any conferences either. I feel pretty bad for being accepted as a CPS… even though it’s a huge honor, it feels like a waste on me compared to others who would’ve been able to take full advantage of it
@seliphe I’m pretty sure you can still attend the conference virtually if you can’t afford to travel to one. If you were invited to an in-person one, you could probably email Questbridge to ask if you can do the online one instead.
I just received an email from Swarthmore College offering me an all expenses paid college visit but I’m not sure if this is directly related to me being a CPS, but I’d assume so as Swarthmore is one of their partner schools
@tdampadu Congrats! It would seem so since colleges don’t regularly give prospective students free visits. Do you know if you selected them as “interested” when you filled out the app?
When I was applying I hadn’t started looking at colleges yet and put “undecided” for a lot of them and some “not interested”, and now I’m regretting doing so in the event that they won’t contact me for those visits simply because I didn’t express interest but now am actually interested in them!
@aatd2 Actually I listed Swarthmore as not interested on my app so I was surprised when I received the email
@tdampadu Oh really? Lol that’s weird they must not look at what we indicate then. There’s hope!
I think the “nomination” is really just an invitation to apply to pre-existing fly-in programs.
