I also received the extension. I filled out almost everything except for the essays and part of the financial things, so I was thinking it was either due to my uploaded transcript or test scores.
I’m also having trouble with the long essay… I know the topic that I’m going to write about (growing up as a pastor’s kid) and started the rough draft, but right now it’s kind of a mess.
In your guy’s opinion, is the line “It’s funny how a loving community can make the poor feel rich” a bit too cliche? I have it planned as my opening sentence, but I’m not sure if it flows with my essay.
My application deadline was also extended, so I decided to completely rewrite my biographical essay. I was thinking about writing about my sexuality (I’m gay) but then I was hesitant because of the drawbacks of doing so. Any suggestions/thoughts??
ACT 34 PSAT1450 but have read a lot of posts in other threads and a lot of people with high scores on tests don’t get in in and a lot with lower scores do .High scores do not mean everything with this program.Don’t be discouraged.
I’m worried about daughters essay.I have read some old ones people posted and they are so good.
I was originally not going to do the application anymore because I hadn’t gotten a recommendation letter yet but my deadline was extended and I decided I might as well give it a shot but what are the chances of getting in if my parents’ income is too much? My mom and dad combined is under 60k but when my stepdad is added it’s about double that. Would the fact that he’s my stepdad and not a biological parent matter even though I live with him? And he’s retiring next month so he won’t be making much anymore and I mentioned that…also I’ve only lived with him and my mom for this past year I usually live with my dad and he makes the least…IDK I need a second opinion.
@youngbutconfused Isn’t it weird though how they would only reward those with high test scores with an extension? What if some other person is just as qualified, but not by their numbers? They would instead be qualified by something like their emotional growth or development of maturity out of overcoming their struggles (idk but just something like that).
My first thought was those emails they send saying how much you’ve worked on your app so far. This must mean that they can see we’re making progress. I wonder if the extension was some sort of reward for not procrastinating. I talked to a few friends who started just a few days ago and they didn’t receive the extension.
I freaked out a bit when I didn’t get the email because I thought it meant QB didn’t think I was qualified enough but I’m starting to think the explanation is closer to what @jb3597 said.
@gabby980 I would still apply and make clear all of these aspects of your financial situation. I don’t know what your chances would be, but still… . that’s under $65,000 assuming your family is 4
I also got the extension email…I’m not sure if it’s because my “qualifications” were my test scores or because I had finished all of the application except 1 short answer and the essay.
My guess is that Questbridge wants to raise their average test scores to make the program look more prestigious, so they’re giving extra time to those with higher test scores so they can improve their application and have a better chance of getting the scholarship. Who knows, though.
I’m thinking nothing to do with test scores and think it has to do with if you have done some of the application but not hit the final submit. My daughter has been working on it for weeks. But who knows just glad she got extra time but I’m still hoping she gets it in quick.
