Questbridge is Confusing Me. Please Help.

Hello everybody,

So the questbridge deadline is right around the corner and I have most of my information filled out but I just have a few questions:

  1. Do I need to rank schools on October 13 in order to be considered for a finalist spot?
  2. If I rank schools, can I reject the college match later if I become a finalist?

I want to apply to Cornell ED but it is not one of the partnership schools. I just want the Questbridge finalist title/award because I heard it is considered a solid achievement. Is this even a possibility?

Thank you.

Just FYI there is a forum for QB here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/questbridge-programs/

If I could answer your questions I would :frowning:

  1. No, some student don't do the match
  2. No, match is same as binding ED

To clarify, a few of the partner schools are non-binding if you match: Yale and Stanford, for sure. If you want to apply to Cornell, choose the schools that are non-binding. The likelihood that you’ll match any of them is very small, anyway. You won’t have to select potential match schools unless you are a finalist. Some of the partner schools may pay for you to visit: others will streamline the application process for you. All of them will waive application fees. The QB program has many benefits aside from resume padding.

The four non-binding partner schools are MIT, Princeton, Stanford and Yale. Hopefully you’ll be admitted to Cornell with an affordable financial aid package, but if not and you become a QB finalist, you will be able to apply to more schools during regular admissions through QB. Some will require the Common Application and for others the QB application alone is sufficient. It gives you a wider net.
