QuestBridge National College Match 2015-16

@MathGuy777 they may be lenient but since it was technically submitted on November 2nd idk if they would take it…but again, since it was only a few minutes they might be lenient. I hope everything falls into place for you!

@lilmonet1 Thank you! I hope they do

So guys, to be clear, during this time, are we prohibited from applying to other colleges? I see it says no EA/ED at other schools but it doesn’t say we can’t apply RD to other schools.

@lilmonet1 Yea, the rules do no prohibit you from applying regular decision to any school. It’s just that if you are matched to one of the QB schools, you have to pull all your apps from the other colleges since admission is binding except to 4 of the schools.

Does anyone know if I can still message Questbridge and remove a school from my rankings? Or would it be too late??

@UnicornDuchess Thanks! The schools I ranked are non-binding so I’m just gonna go ahead and submit the other applications. @blourring you can try! Did you already send your app into that school? The best way may be to directly contact the school and ask that your application be withdrawn.

Hey guys I have one more question. If you are matched to a non binding school are you still free to do Questbridge RD? I know I can do RD on my own, but if I matched to a school am I allowed to participate in Questbridge RD? I ask bc I saw somewhere that “Matched students are withdrawn from Regular Decision” or something like that when we get our results. But I’m not sure if that applies to people who are matched to the 4 non binding schools.

@lilmonet1 If you are Matched to any of the four non-binding schools, you can still participate in QB RD. The withdrawal is only for those who are Matched to binding schools.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
Now when I log in to view my Questbridge application, it shows the Quest Scholars Network banner instead of the regular Questbridge one :?

no…my still shows my QB one…I think…
like where are you seeing the QSN banner? @UnicornDuchess

@ethiopienne At the top of the page where the Questbridge logo is.
It’s probably nothing to worry about though.
I tried another browser and it doesn’t show the Quest Scholars Network banner.

Hey did anyone else get an email from Vanderbilt that said to apply to them via Regular Decision? I’m worried that this means I wasn’t matched.

@Pinnlol I ranked Vanderbilt too!
Is there a reference to Questbridge anywhere in the email?
If not, it might just be their regular promotional emails.

I would be surprised if they finished reviewing applications so quickly!

Yes there was, I forgot to mention the message was sent by Questbridge on behalf if Vanderbilt. I hope this was just a promotion to promote applying to RD, since most aren’t matched.

@Pinnlol Oh kk. The only regular decision emails I have received are from the schools I didn’t rank.
Hopefully, it’s just a fluke on their part!

Yes hopefully! So what to her colleges did you rank? I put Pomona, USC, Amherst and Vanderbilt! Oh and this question is for everyone else too.

@Pinnlol I ranked 10: MIT, Northwestern, Penn, Yale, Notre Dame, Tufts, Vanderbilt, Rice, UVA, USC (I don’t even remember the exact order I ranked them :/)

I don’t even know what I was thinking. I literally wrote all the supplemental essays for Notre Dame and USC on Nov. 1st and finished at like 11:15pm so I don’t even think it’s my best work. I’m so thankful Vanderbilt, Tufts, and Rice didn’t require much else; if I bank on any for the match, it would be those. Honestly though, if I could do it over, I would have ranked five and put more effort into those essays (and I would have started wayyyyy before the finalist decisions came out. I was just really unsure if I would become finalist and didn’t want to get my hopes up).

How did the rest of you guys fare with the time constraints?

I got the Vanderbilt email and I didn’t rank them so no worries guys! Everyone got them (:

The time constraint was miserable…I ranked 11 -Penn, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Brown, Emory, Rice, Tufts, Northwestern, UChicago, and UVA and it was the toughest week of my life. I agree a lot of stuff was rushed bc I started right when I got my finalist notification too but it is what it is. My essays could’ve been a little better but I agree some schools like Rice and Tufts were easier and since I ranked Penn #1 I spent almost my entire week on that essay and was really happy with it.
Bottom line, more time would have of course made my essays better but not to the point that it would’ve changed the overall admission decision for that particular school in my opinion.

Yeah Pomona was my first choice and they only required the basic things, like the CSS Profile, test scores and tax returns. I was thankful that my top choice didn’t require much. The only thing that was stressing me was that I kept on putting off the fact that I had to mail the tax returns for some colleges, and couldn’t just fax it to them. So like 5 days before the deadline, I finally sent them and I was SO relieved. It would’ve been chill if we got a little more time, though.

10 days left guys …
