Question about Admission regarding subject tests

Hello!

I just recieved my subject test results from the December deadline; I recieved a 610 and 690 in math 2 and US history, respectively. Are these acceptable scores to send to Harvard or should I retake?

Thanks! any advice is appreciated!

To be honest, both are pretty low compared to most Harvard applicants

they are low

you’re fine, though it couldn’t hurt to retake, for a better chance =). the 690 is great! and the 610 could be a bit higher, though if you’re over 650, you’re fine. Good luck!

I did horribly on my SAT 2’s so I’m retaking in January. BUT even with my crappy SAT 2’s, both Princeton and Harvard contacted me for an interview, because my SATs were 2020 at the time (now are 2120), and I had an interesting resume. I’m DYING to get in haha

^senator

I hate to burst your bubble, but at least for Harvard, your interview was given to you because an interviewer was available in your area. I’m assuming the same for Princeton, granted, my application cycle was five years ago, so maybe things are different? But, I’m going with the same thing.

As for OP, competitive SAT II’s in the Ivy League circuit are typically upwards of 700. Particularly, from what I can remember, 1 in 10 test takers (noting, in a self selected pool) for math iic had scored 800s five years ago, and I can imagine the trend is similar these days (without pulling up that data). So, particularly for that test (and assuming your designating a math/science concentration [sans certain biology fields]), you really need a 750+ imo.

^Yeah I scored an 800 on Math II and I think I was around 88th percentile.

Receiving an interview is not an indication of your application strength. Everyone who applies gets one as long as there are enough interviewers
