Question about admission

How important are AP scores in terms of admission into college. do they just care that you took them and got like 3's or will that hurt you?

It depends where you're applying. Some weight test scores more than others. But anywhere you go, if they see that you took AP courses, they should see that you took the test, even if you got threes.

AP's definitely aren't as important as SAT's or SAT II's.

selective ones will see AP as evidence that you challenged yourself. if you take an AP that isn't offred in school, that's also good.

It MAY also be helpful to show that your school was very challenging, for example if you got 5s in your APs & 700s-800s in your SAT IIs but only Bs in your class, as happens frequently at my kids' HS. The colleges tend to know the reps of some of these more competitive high schools.
