Question about aid repeal

Hello all,
I want to do an aid repeal for Drexel University, but I’m not sure if my situation is eligible. My parents currently have less money than before applying to colleges due to investing a house. Would this be eligible for an aid repeal as an “out of pocket expense”?or something else I’m not sure. I really need more money from this expensive school :frowning: any help is appreciated.

What can your parents afford per year?

Do you have any safeties? I don’t think you’ll get more money from Drexel. There is no reason to go to a 70k uni for nursing. State flagships have good nursing programs. We need to know what you can afford to see if there is time for affordable options. Or you may have to gap year. From what I gather, you are a DACA nursing major with an 1140 SAT and 3.52 GPA, Home state CT.

The schools generally don’t supplement your parents’ investment.

I think you want to do an APPEAL…not a REPEAL.

When you “repeal” something…you remove it…that’s not what you want!

My suggestion…if you do anything in writing, get it proofread before you send it.

Your parents buying a house will not be grounds for an increase in aid.

If Drexel uses home equity in their formula, this could simply transfer one asset (savings) to another (home equity). Drexel uses the CSS Profile…and IIRC, the DO consider a portion of primary home equity in their need based aid calculations.

How MUCH more money do you need from this expensive school? TBH, it’s not likely you will see an increase.

I’m putting this in its own post…

You also are not a U.S. citizen…and Drexel provides limited funding to international students.

In addition, the school does NOT guarantee to meet full need.

You mention that you are DACA, and you got accepted to Temple. Does Temple extend instate tuition status to DACA students who are PA residents…and are you??

And adding to the chorus on your other thread…lots of options for nursing that are far less costly than a private university like Drexel…
