On the 2006 NU application, there is an optional essay that gives applicants a chance to summarize their research project and/or independent study. This summer, I worked with scientists in the world's longest-running sea turtle research and conservation project. I was wondering if I could write about that since it's not my OWN research project (I helped with field work and data collecting).

yeah of course. but focus more on what YOU did, and how you contributed to the project. i dont remember if last year's app had a question like that, but for some app or another, i remember talking about my research junior year with some researchers.. obviously it was not MY project, but i worked on it.. that's what "researching" is.. your work on a project..

Oh ok, thanks. I thought it had to be your own research with your original ideas and such.. thanks! I'm very excited to write about the turtles, haha.

Yep, definitely add it. The very same question was on last year's application and I wrote about some research under a professor I did in Materials Science. I got in so I hope you end up the same, lol, good luck.
