Question about Andover

I've read about there being some tension between administration and students, and according to the State of the Academy 2007 results ( http://64.23.58.100/state-academy/2007.php ), about 52% of polled students thought the relationship between students and the admin is poor and 75% sense a rift between students and admin. Would anyone be able to elaborate on this? I've never noticed such a thing and am interested in learning more about it.

I think that this has been a pretty tough year as far as administration-student relations go. There have been several controversial decisions made that some students feel we did not have a voice in the process. I personally don't feel that it's a huge problem and it doesn't affect my daily life. To me it's more of a communication issue than anything. I'm sure the other Andover students on this board will have different input on this topic, but I don't think that it's an issue that you need to worry a lot about.

I pretty much agree with what sugerkim has to say. In general, some students are disgruntled because they feel as if the administration members are making decisions without consulting students/teachers. There is a sense that the deans/head of school are making changes that they don't have to live out - ones that effect the students and teachers, but not themselves. Students and teaches have more of a problem with their lack of representation or voice rather than the decisions themselves.

"Saturday classes can sometimes become 'a situation'"

HAHHAHAHA

lol who made that website?

No one really knows who made it - It's a pretty funny site.

"I use to be afraid, but than they talked with me and now I wonder why I ever cared about those pesky rights. Excuse me but my I have to get back my 20 hour a day work duty making nike shoes."

hhahahah

hahah thats a funny site.

but seriously, what really struck me about the survey was the number of students doing drugs and having sex on campus!!

is it normal? because i come from an asian country and doing drugs is completely unheard of. in fact anyone doing drugs gets the life sentence!!!

and sex in school is such a foreign concept here, partly because i uh... go to a girls school.
