For certain scholarships Northeastern requires 100 hours of community service per year.
Must these hours be done at certain "partner" organizations with Northeastern?
Or can they be done at places such as hospitals, research labs, other countries?
Thanks!

That is an excellant question that needs to be directed to your scholarship coordinator. Even personal stories and best guesses aren’t a good substitute. Obviously deciding to volunteer someplace else based on things you heard on a board would be a terrible decision if it made you lose your scholarship. Just e-mail the school and they should be able to answer it directly.

Are you talking about the CEP program?
If so, then I know some about this.
Your first year, you are set up with a partner organization. You are expected to work with this organization on a regular basis throughout the year, but you do not have to complete all of your hours there. Volunteering at a hospital, or doing volunteer research, volunteering abroad, alternative spring break, and unpaid volunteer co-ops can all count for hours. A lot of dialogues actually contain opportunities to get quite a few hours. Northeastern and CEP also have other volunteer opportunities throughout the year, such as community service days and volunteering at the Greater Boston Food Bank (which is actually a lot of fun).
But be careful, because not all volunteering counts. You have to be doing community service, meaning that it has to be volunteering that benefits the community in some way. For example, volunteering as a tour guide on campus does not count for hours. Your best bet is to check with the CEP advisor on any specific activities you are interested in counting, but usually it is pretty flexible.
