Hi everyone,
I'm writing my essay for the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship (last minute, I know), and I have a question. It asks, "Which academic interests and/or passions might be a part of your academic journey at Vanderbilt and why?" I have begun writing about music and how I want to be involved with music at Vanderbilt, and the essay is coming along nicely. I'm afraid that if I write about any other activities I want to be involved in, it will detract from the essay. I'm most definitely interested in being involved with other activities aside from music, but I know in college that one of my main interests outside of my major will be music (and that I will most likely double major with music or add a music minor). I'm just concerned that since it says academic interests/passions, plural, that I should be writing about more than just music. So my question is: Should I write about other interests, or should I just focus on music?

I think you could focus on the various ways you can incorporate music. That way you are giving examples of different things, while still having a focused, organized essay. If your other interests are similar in nature than by all means incorporate them. But if you talk about, for example, music, then soccer, then martial arts, it might seem choppy.

my son applied to that, but I though it was due on Dec. 15th??

@ZBD5421 they extended the deadline to the 22nd.

Oh! well that’s good.

The deadline has been extended to 1/6/15 :)

Does anyone know why they keep extending the deadline? Do they not have as many scholarship applicants as they expected/want?
