I recently got back my midterm grade for my mvc college class, and I got an 87. The mean was 80 and the standard deviation was a 20. I’m guessing I didn’t do very well on the exam, based on how close my grade is to the mean. The professor curves the class to a B, and the midterm is 25 percent of my grade. I currently have a 100% in the other categories of my grade that I can calculate and 5% extra credit. Around how well would I have to do on the final, which is 40% of my grade to get an A or A+ in the class? I’m absolutely terrified. Thanks!
We would have to know the cutoff for an A, which you didn’t provide.
If you know the cutoff for an A grade, it should be an easy arithmetic problem.
In the meantime, keep at it and don’t slack off.
There really isn’t a cutoff for an A grade, but the professor curves the class to a B, although I’m not sure what that means. I do know that the in the past, around 40-45% or so of students in the class end up with an A or A+.
These two sentences are contradictory. Regardless, it would seem to me that a student taking MVC would be able to solve this problem on his/her own.
