Question about essay..

I seem to always have a weak one.. like I restate the topic "Therefore I believe blah blah". Then I say my 2 points again and then end with kind of a pithy statement (its usually bad). This one book i used told me to say something like "Although one may contend the opposite of my thesis, this arguemnt can easily be refuted by blah blah". SHould i say this? I mean the books saying it shows that you are not too harsh.
So any suggestions for the conclusion other than you know.. restating the obvious?

bump 10 char.

I think I read that somewhere, saying the "although statement."

I got a 12 on my essay...I never included it before. I might now, but it really cuts from flow.

Just say your point outright.

Like in my essay in june i said.

"technology has provided us with a more efficient means of going backwards.

its a pretty general statement, but it works. since its direct and to the point. However, rephrasing the prompt in a new light also could work effectively

Well the although sentence is ALSO a complex sentence... and graders look for all types. So maybe they just want to see the actual although statement but dont really care what follows. I know thats kind of exaggerating it but still.

instead of rephrasing the prompt with an although statement, you can create a clever counterpoint to the statement.

answer the why question in your intro, but if you cant think of anything you could just use a negative rebuttal, but that would be weak. Readers look that the writer is able to formulate his own thoughts, and not use others.

haha and im sure the grades wont be looking for wow complex sentence! bonus point for the although. its pretty much a given that all high school students can formulate complex sentences.

Yes but most dont do it backfire. I remember my teacher (AP) was complaining that we had no variety of sentences. Then again I go to a bad school... :(. Ya i see what you mean. In the although statement try to find a weak opposition point and just destroy it! That is a great idea.
