Question about FSU droms

Are FSU droms/residence halls all open throughout the school year or are there certain times during the year when they will be closed

They are open during each semester - about a week before class starts and after the last exam.

I lived in Smith Hall last year, and I remembered that the dorms were opened a week prior to classes starting and that they were closed for Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break. The thing that was horrible about it was that for the extended breaks, one needed to be out of their dorms a day after the last days of finals. Imagine having to study for a test while still needing to pack to go back home!

From the FSU Housing FAQs:
Do the residence halls stay open during official University breaks?

No. The halls are closed during the breaks at the end of each semester. Although students are not allowed in the buildings during the breaks, they are not required to remove their belongings from their rooms. The halls remain open during Thanksgiving and special accommodations can be made through the housing office for students who need temporary housing during Spring Break.
