Question about GED and Transfers

I am currently going to school in NZ and I am halfway through my junior year, school here starts in February and ends in December, and I was wondering if I should just take the GED and save myself some time. I already plan on going to community college in cali ( i am a US citizen) because of financial reasons and my friend told me just take GED and go CC because colleges wont care when you transfer after 2 years of college.
So my question is - Do universities like UC, NYU, etc... care about your high school stats when you are transferring after 2 years of community college?
Also if I take the GED this year before the semester starts I can probably start college this year. So should I drop out of HS or keep going to HS while studying for GED and after I pass the GED go to cc in cali?

The GED is often thought of as “less” than a high school diploma, no matter your reason for getting one. But I’d think that once you’ve got two years of CC, with excellent grades, nobody would care. However, if you then fail to get your Bachelor’s degree for any reason, I think you’re worse off with a GED than with a HS diploma.
