Question about GPA?

<p>Okay, soo my % average for the 1st semester in the 9th grade was 90% but the second semester was a bit over 98%. Would they first average out the % to around 94 and then make it 4.0. Or would they just average out the GPA out first? ...I really hope they average out the % first so I can get 4.0 as the average... :(</p>

<p>Your cumulative UW GPA is calculated by averaging your actual grades course by course. Make a list of all your courses and all your grades. Assuming each course counts for the same credit, add all your grades and divide by the number of courses. If the number of credits differs for some courses, you need to factor that in as well. If your semester grades are final grades that appear on your transcript for credit, then those are used to calculate your GPA. If your semester grades are really interim grades and your courses are year-long with a final transcript grade at the end of the school year, then those are the grades used for your GPA.</p>
