Hello. I have an opportunity for a Master’s level graduate assistantship for this upcoming spring semester. Because I am in education, I am looking for a teaching job in the fall. I was wondering, do people take graduate assistantships for only one semester? Will it be highly frowned upon if I end up only taking it for one semester if I get a full time school teaching position next fall? Thank you so much!
Usually people do them for two semesters, but it’s possible to do one for just one. Also, you don’t know if you’re getting a teaching job in the fall, so I’d go ahead and do the assistantship then deal with resigning later if you do get the position.
